It is the black spotted appearance of the Dalmatian which makes it stand apart from the other dog breeds. The history of these black spots still remains a mystery. These dogs were first found in Western Yugoslavia but it is actually a breed which belongs to Europe. About a hundred and twenty years back the Dalmatian first came into the United States, and from then these dogs have managed to be the most preferred pet.

These Dalmatians can actually do exercises for a long time and they have very high energy which is the most admirable feature of this breed. This dog requires a lot of space, so if you are planning to have it in your small apartment, then its a wrong idea. You need a lot of endurance to train this dog. The Dalmatians are quite adamant making the training process very tiring. These dogs cannot stand other dogs despite being a wonderful pet. The funniest part is that they are warmhearted towards other animals like horses or cats. Do not get the Dalmatian as the first pet with children at home. These dogs have very high energy and there is every possibility of hurting the children unintentionally. Though this dog is a little big it makes a fabulous pet if proper training is given and will not harm anybody.

Grooming your Dalmatian
Exercise is a must to these dogs, so you will be happy with it only if you are active. They love going for long runs, just a small walk will not do. If you go for jogging in the morning, then the Dalmatian is the best companion. When the Dalmatian is brought as a pup, it will abide you and stay is the apartment, but as they grow, they will start giving you directions as to where they want to go. Another favorite exercise which they enjoy is playing with the ball.

They prefer the cool winters to the hot summers. During the day, if the Dalmatian is let out for a long time, you have to ensure that they are given plenty of water and shade to rest. They simply get attached to humans and loving spending time with them. Though they enjoy playing outside the house, if you give them company, they will enjoy indoors too.

Info on their health
The Dalmatians are generally free from diseases, but in certain cases it is said that they do suffer from deafness as they grow old. Other diseases, which they can get affected by, are the allergies, problems with vision, thyroid gland issues and seizures. According to the CHD reports they are very far from Rotteweillers. So it is advised that you take your dog for regular check up at the vet and keep him free from all the above diseases.

Their life span is about twelve to fifteen years. However, there are reports to prove that they live even longer. The Dalmatian cannot be easily compared with any other dog; if proper training is given they can be as soft as a Labrador.
